Why should you attend?
  • Receive updates on the progress of the KAS for Science review that is currently underway so you can better support your classroom teachers.
  • Use local science program data and work through critical elements necessary for local science improvement to develop a plan for implementation at the building or district level.
  • Receive research-based strategies and examples to raise the ceiling of quality in your school or district’s science program.
  • Enhance your confidence in observing and providing feedback that is purposeful and meaningful to the science classroom teacher and moves them toward the vision of the KAS for Science
  • Learn to provide feedback that supports high quality science instructional practices.
  • Develop a network with other administrators who are interested in improving their school or district science program.
  • Take the experiences from each session in this series and use the materials and resources to immediately work with PLCs and groups of teachers to raise the quality of your science program.
  • Explore science improvement challenges, questions and concerns as a group. Learn strategies that can be used to enhance the school or district science programs as students are asked to think and engage in figuring things out in a way that mimics how scientist work.
The Kentucky Academic Standards for Science require a different approach to teaching science than has been done in the past. This form of teaching is often referred to as 3D learning. Teachers need supports in place from their administrators to make the shifts necessary for all students to achieve the kind of thinking required in the KAS.
