Andy Beshear today announced that incoming Kentucky high school seniors who have previously taken the ACT will be eligible to take the test a second time for free during a statewide ACT retake day in the Fall of 2022. The announcement follows national data showing students are more likely to increase their score by retaking the test a second time.

Registration is now open. Each student be must registered individually and may compete in a maximum of two events. Also, each school is allowed a maximum of two competitors per event – or one team of 2-4 competitors – per event. For the first time, the Kentucky General Assembly has included additional funding for Advanced Placement (AP) Exams for all public school students for the 2021-22 school year. Kentucky also will continue to provide full AP Exam coverage for low-income public school students and for AP computer science exams.

Schools provide many services that aid children’s development, well-being, and academic success. Key providers include mental health agencies, social workers, school counselors, and nurses, as well as school officials and other employees. Yet quite possibly the most important component of these services—often overlooked—is the parent.
