The Kentucky Branch of the English-Speaking Union (ESU) is inviting schools across the state to compete in 2022 Shakespeare Competition on Feb. 20 at the Commonwealth Theatre Center in Louisville.
High school educators can fill out the school registration form by Dec. 1. Once a school is registered, interested students choose a contrasting monologue and sonnet from the National ESU website. These approved lists have changed from previous years.
The deadline for schools to submit their school winner forms to the National ESU Office is Feb. 12. The form will be available on the National ESU website within a couple of weeks.
School winners will participate in the live competition in Louisville. The state winner will upload their monologue and sonnet for an online semifinal round to determine the 10 national finalists. If selected as a national finalist, the student will receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York City to compete nationally on April 25. Those who advance to New York must have proof of COVID vaccination.
