Students in an initial certification master’s educator preparation programs are eligible to receive up to $2,500 per semester for up to four semesters over the course of three academic years and receive no more than $10,000 total. They must be admitted to a MAT educator preparation program or have an application on file with a public Kentucky university. Eligibility requirements and an online application can be found on the Go Teach KY website and on KDE's website.

KCM Faculty Associate, Funda Gonulates, was recognized for her work as a professor of the Teacher Education Department's "Teaching Elementary Mathematics" course, which was revealed to be a favorite by NKU Alumni.

2019 Summer Reading Workshops
Summer Reading Workshops are offered for elementary regular and special education teachers, interventionists, and Title 1 teachers through KASC’s Summer Academies. Diagnosing and Prescribing for Strategic Reading and The Nuts & Bolts of Reading Instruction workshops will be held in London, KY on July 18, 2019 and in Lexington, KY on July 23, 2019.
KASC’s Summer Reading Workshops are available only through academy participation. These two sessions are led by experienced reading specialists with a passion for teaching reading and a commitment to support the professional growth of teachers.

Seal of Arts Excellence Guidance Now Available
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is pleased to announce new guidance for establishing a local Seal of Arts Excellence to recognize high school graduates who demonstrate an advanced level of specialization in one or more areas of visual and performing arts. The guidance can be found on the Seal of Arts Excellence webpage.
A new feature for creating a Seal of Arts Excellence on a student’s transcript will be available in Infinite Campus for the 2022-2023 school year. Districts will have the option of adding a Seal of Arts Excellence to a student’s transcript through the Graduation Tab that will include the date of completion as well as the area of specialization. SBDM Election Kit
Now included FREE with membership! Access to our election kit is available to all KASC members through our Learning Management System (LMS). The kit includes advice for developing written procedures, guidance for online elections, forms to customize for every step of the process, and legal requirements. Everything is organized for the person/group running each election, so organizers don’t have to view the entire kit.
Academic Standards Family Guides Available
The Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) family guides were developed to help families familiarize themselves with the content of each grade level’s standards. Each guide contains a standards overview for reading and writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. The guides are now available in Spanish and can be accessed on the Standards Family Guides & Resources webpage on the KY Standards website.

KyMTSS is a multi-level prevention system to support student achievement and social-emotional behavioral competencies through the integration of differentiated core instruction, assessment, and intervention.
